FEBRUARY 2008 PARENT MEETING MINUTES

FAIRGROUNDS

Approved last months minutes

Camp Report: Camp Gerber was camp of choice. North of Muskegon, appro. 175 miles away. offer different merit badges, have honor, eagle and leadership programs. Week of June 29 to July 4 was chosen by majority of parents. Others could form group and go a different week if needed. Cost $ 265.00 includes shirt, snack, ice and gas for trip. Possible adult leaders going are: K. Heumann, T. Myers, B. Sullens, S. Silvaris, S. Alder, T. Turek.

Friends of Scouting were at Jan 14th meeting-please consider donating if you have not already done so.

Tom Girard has updated the troop handbook to include the language changes we had previously discussed concerning Scout accts., definitions of troop positions; copies will be available at next meeting.

Open Positions for Parents:

-Eagle Scout Advisors: one adult needed to mentor each of our Life scouts.
-Recruitment Coordinator: Keep in touch with 3 Cub Scout packs. Over see campout in fall. Every 3 months organize event..Oct. outing, then Dec. outing.
-Den Chief Overseer: Denise Kearns
-Need Older Scouts to go to pack meetings occasionally to help out or make presentations of what our troop is doing. Make our presence known. (Derik, Todd, Cameron, Cody?)
-Medical Form Coordinator: Take over for Joanna Kruse who has an eagle scout now.
-Committee Chair: Soon to be open position. Mr. Girard will soon have an eagle scout.

Finance report - presented and approved.

Ham Sale starts. Forms were handed out by Heidi Dailey at the meeting. We have 4 weeks to sell. Heidi will get fundraiser application from council.

Council having Spring nut sale- voted to not participate in this fundraiser.

Garage Sale will be 1st weekend in May organized again by Theresa Burman. Boys need to put in at least 2 hours of time.

MIS Cleanup: Again organized by Sally Sivrais. June 14 and Aug. 16, 17 (I think) Handouts were given at meeting.

Note to Scribe: plc meeting notes need to get out for better communication, at a more timely fashion. (Has it been 3 weeks now?)

Round Table will be Feb. 14 at 7pm Knox Pres. Church in A2. Anyone welcome, Larry planning on attending for our troop.

Bowling was a success. Boys had fun, with 5 lanes of bowling used.
Ski Trip was also a success. 19 boys, fun but cold so indoor pool big hit. 28 total went. 8-10 scouts started on the snow sports badge.

Rock climbing will not be rescheduled due to difficulties with management.

Crossovers are happening and we are getting a few additions to our troop.

Winter Campout will be Feb. 22-24 Emergency Preparedness will be the focus. This will be at the Fairgrounds Service Center Bldg.

Rod Gun Outing will be March 7-9 Adult leaders needed for outing. Bob Guysky will be heading this up (since he wasn't at the meeting...thanks Bob). Possible adults are Bob Guysky, Sally Silvaris, Mike Dailey. We really need to get financial arrangement set up with 425 about our fair share, per kid not split cost in half.

Scouting for Food: Lisa Gray is coordinating this event. April 12 will be distribution of tags, and April 19 will be food pickup.

Applications for Deer Trails Camp should be going thru Mike Dailey. He can pick 4-6 kids. He will decide if scout is ready for leadership training at camp. 476 pay for 1/2 of camp fees.

High Adventure: Dave Everard is heading this one. Short deadline of Feb. 15 for lottery. need 6-8 kids with 2 adults for crew. $650 plus airline ticket. See email from David.
